An Islamic Way of Life: Madinah and Bab al-Ilm Summer Course - 2014

Posted on Mon, 2014-12-22 17:57

The 11th Annual Madinah and Bab al-Ilm Summer course was held in August, 2014. The 3-week summer course was organized in a way that would introduce the students to a Hawza style of living.

The sessions were facilitated by Sheikh Abbas and Qasim Gulam Husain, amongst others. Sheikh Muhammad Khalfan contributed as a guest speaker on one of the training sessions.

The first two weeks of the course was set in Qum al-Muqaddasah, where the brothers resided at Dar al-Zahra (sa) while the sisters stayed at Jamia al-Zahra (sa) campus. During their stay in Qum, the youth participated in many activities both within the city and the suburbs, where they visited historical, natural and pilgrimage sites. The last week of the camp was spent in the Holy city of Mash’had for the ziyarat of our eighth Imam (a) where many spiritual and academic programs were conducted.

These summer courses integrate academic, spiritual, cultural and physical aspects in order to give participants an idea of what a truly Islamic environment is like.  Whether it was praying Salatul Layl and reciting du’a in congregation at the haram or sightseeing to admire the vast beauty of Allah (SWT)’s creation, the students were constantly reminded of the connection of everything to the Almighty.

It is hoped that through courses such as these, The World Federation will continue to provide young boys and girls from around the world with the opportunity to visit holy sites and gain insight into a more Islamic way of life.
