A Journey Without Return by Kauther Al-Kaaby

Updated on 28 November 2018

This trip was the start of an endless journey of self knowledge and improvement. It began in the Holy city of Qum and we were lucky to start such a journey with the guidance of Sayyida Masuma (as).  With the guidance of our teachers, we began to understand the importance of this esteemed Lady and built an unbreakable connection with her. After visiting many places that helped us reflect and ponder such as Mount Khidr, the cave in Hamadan and many graveyards, we ended our stay in Iran by staying in Mashhad. We were lucky enough to perform the Ziyarah of Imam Ali Ar-Redha (as) and ask him (as) to help us continue what we began in Qum with the help of his sister.

I learnt a lot on the trip and it all linked back to one thing: I learnt what true love is. The love that we build for our Imam (afts). The love for Sayyida Masuma (as) and Imam Ar-Redha (as). The love that the martyrs felt. The love so true that they were willing to give up their lives for it. The love that ultimately leads to the love of God. If we can place this love in my our souls, we will not need or want anyone apart from God!

Words cannot describe how much this trip has changed my life. It exceeded all my expectations and gave me the spiritual boost that I desperately needed. It taught me how to truly love God and there is no greater lesson.

The trip is about more than just visiting mosques, shrines, museums and graves. It's about building a spiritual Shrine in our hearts for some of the Holiest personalities who have ever lived. It's about starting a one way journey towards self improvement and self building. It's about getting closer to The Almighty and actively awaiting the return of Al Hujjah (afts).
