The World Federation’s Islamic Education Department’s External Tableegh is committed to spreading the teachings of the Qur’an and the Ahl al-Bayt (a) across diverse external communities. The department has demonstrated significant expansion, initiating numerous engaging projects in 17 languages and broadening our impact to encompass 70 countries.
We are pleased to share the Essay eBooks on the International Essay Competition based on Nahjul Balagha, which was launched on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Ghadeer in 2022. This prestigious competition, which was conducted in English, Urdu, and French, attracted a global participation, reflecting the widespread interest and dedication towards Nahjul Balagha – A compilation of the sermons, letters and maxims of Mawla Ameer al-Mu’mineen Ali (a) and the second most important Islamic book after the Holy Qur’an for the Shi’as.
The dedicated team diligently compiled the best essays into eBooks in their respective languages. These valuable resources are now available on the WF-SHOP for the benefit of our community members. Please click on the links below to review these eBooks.
Nahjul balagha Essay Competition
Report
The participants were provided with 14 different topics in each language to choose from, and registrations and topic selections were made via Google form. The criteria for the essays emphasised originality, innovation, uniqueness, in-depth analysis and rigorous research, with a maximum length of 3000 words.
Originally, the submission deadline was set for 14th October 2022. However, in response to numerous heartfelt requests from participants worldwide, who asked us to extend the competition’s deadline, the deadline was extended from 14 October 2022 to 30 November 2022.
We received a combined 544 registrations (including non-Shias) from over 19 countries worldwide. Each essay was meticulously evaluated by a distinguished panel of 13 eminent scholars and judges. This esteemed panel included:
The winners were announced in three separate live webinars for each language on TWF’s YouTube channel. These events, graced by the esteemed judges, TWF President Alhaj Safder Bhai Jaffer, and the Head of External Tableegh, Shaykh Nadir Jaffer, have collectively garnered over 2,600 views and are available for viewing here: English, Urdu and French.
Each language has around 9 winners divided into 3 Prize categories:
1st Prize: Ziyarat trip to Iraq
2nd Prize: USD 500
3rd Prize: USD 200
An additional prize category was added for the Urdu language, and 14 winners were awarded a copy of the Nahjul Balagha in Urdu published by The World Federation.
