Respected Community Members,

Salamun Alaykum and Ramadhan Kareem

The most beautiful and blessed month of Ramadan has arrived, a time of boundless blessings, mercy, and forgiveness.

As the Prophet (PBUH) said:

هُوَ شَهْرٌ دُعِيتُمْ فِيهِ إِلَى ضِيَافَةِ اللَّهِ وَجُعِلْتُمْ فِيهِ مِنْ أَهْلِ كَرَامَةِ اللَّهِ

“It is a month in which you have been invited to the banquet of Allah and made among those honored by Him.”

With hearts full of gratitude, I extend my warmest congratulations to each of you as we welcome this sacred month—a time when every breath is an act of tasbeeh (glorification of Allah) and even our sleep is considered worship.

This year, The World Federation has dedicated the year to the Youth, following the Year of the Qur’an & Thaqalayn. Alhamdulillah, several exciting initiatives are unfolding:

  • The launch of the Youth podcast, Unplugged, with its first episode featuring Shaykh Nuru Mohamed and Brother Mohammed Raza Nathani. More episodes will follow, addressing the pressing questions and needs of our youth.
  • The International Outreach Department has announced the International Qur’an Competition, in collaboration with regional federations, culminating in a grand finale in Karbala this December, InshaAllah.
  • We are honored to welcome Qaari Ali Manji as our Youth Qur’an Ambassador, who will inspire and promote Qur’anic recitation within our communities.

As we immerse ourselves in this sacred month, meet on a regular basis in our masajid and imambarghas, perform the a’maal of Laylatul Qadr together, and then share in the festivities of Eid, I have a humble request: Let us reflect upon the verses of the Qur’an, particularly those that emphasize unity and brotherhood. Allah (SWT) commands:

وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا

“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided…”
[Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:103]

Where differences exist, let us strive for reconciliation, as the Qur’an reminds us:

إِنَّمَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌ فَأَصْلِحُوا۟ بَيْنَ أَخَوَيْكُمْ

“Indeed, the believers are but brothers, so reconcile between your brothers…”
[Surah Al-Hujurat 49:10]

As a Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri community, we take pride in our unity. Our Jamaats form the foundation of our grassroots membership, our regional bodies nurture and support these Jamaats, and The World Federation acts as the unifying thread that connects us all. While each region has unique needs—both spiritual and temporal—we find strength in our diversity, bound together by a shared purpose:

We Exist to Serve.
We serve our community.
We serve the most vulnerable among us.
We serve the wider Shia, Muslim, and, when possible, the global human community.

In this spirit, I extend my sincere gratitude for your generous support towards the WF-Aid Ramadan Relief Program, through which we aim to provide essential provisions to over 450,000 individuals in need. I urge you to continue your contributions, as the rewards of charity in this blessed month are multiplied many times over.

May Allah (SWT) accept our fasts, prayers, and charitable acts. Let us remember each other in our duas and strive for His pleasure.

With profound salaams and heartfelt duas,

Alhaj Safder Jaffer
The WF President

  • The Islamic Education Department has introduced Juz’ 27 of Tafsir Tadabbur al-Qur’an, featuring the beautiful Surah Rahman, perfectly aligned with the spirit of Ramadan.
