Message from External Tableegh on the sad demise of
Marhum Mulla Muhsin AM Jaffer
It brings great sorrow to hear about the departure of the soul of Marhum Mulla Muhsin Jaffer after prolonged suffering but a blessed life of service to Allah (SWT), the Ahl al-Bayt (a) and humanity at large.
As a child, I still remember his enlightening talks full of wisdom when he visited Madagascar.
His charismatic personality and ever-smiling character attracted people to him.
He was a pioneer and a visionary who opened the new chapter of External Tableegh within our global Khoja organisation.
With heaps of humility, honesty, hard work and discipline, Murabbi Muhsin Uncle worked hard to spread the words of the Ahl al-Bayt (a) and touched the lives of many.
One example (Bosnia):
Br. Abdullah Shabar’s late Father (RA) was the Imam of a Sunni mosque. In 1992, Br. Abdullah came to England as a refugee where he met both Marhum Mulla Asgher and Murabbi Muhsin Uncle (RA) for the first time.
He said that it was their kindness and magnanimous personalities that attracted him.
He was given few books, including “Then I was guided” by Dr. Tijani.
Sub’han’Allah, this prepared the ground towards his acceptance of the Mad’hab of Ahl al-Bayt (a)! And they became so close that Murabbi Muhsin Uncle used to treat Br. Abdullah like a son.
Following this, the IEB Bosnian desk was established at Dar al-Tableegh in London and in 1998, Murabbi Muhsin Uncle made his first field visit to Bosnia!
Currently, The World Federation’s External Tableegh Centre named “Zivot Foundation” that was established by Marhum is the only organisation around Sarajevo managed by a Bosnian and Br. Abdullah is still the manager.
After my own visit to Bosnia in 2018, I shared the report with pictures and Shaykh Mustafa Jaffer printed it and showed to his Father. Marhum was extremely happy to learn that the foundation he had laid was still developing and flourishing.
With the will of Allah (SWT), we shall try to continue the good work he established and further develop and expand External Tableegh, in his blessed memory.
In Kosovo:
I was amazed to see the first Qur’an in the Albanian language that was published by The World Federation in 1995, led by Murabbi Muhsin Uncle.
He was a passionate and keen social worker who took great interest in interfaith activities.
Over two decades ago, he contributed immensely towards the Braille publication of Shi’a Literature in different languages and crossed this milestone by promoting Tableegh for disabled people.
In 2005, The Ida Rieu School for the Blind published in collaboration with The World Federation, the “Pearls of Wisdom” book by Marhum Mulla Asghar (RA) in Braille. Ten sets of the Holy Qur’an in Arabic were sent to Schools for visually impaired children in India.
The World Federation then worked in collaboration with the “Braille Islamic Books & Information” in London, and published Dua Kumayl in Braille.
Mulla Muhsin Uncle was a man of few words, whose actions spoke louder than his words.
He would never refuse anyone’s call no matter how busy he would be, saying that if people are calling, it’s because they need help, and would ask to transfer the call to him.
During my time in Hawza, when I would go to visit some esteemed Mujtahideen and Maraje and introduce myself, they would ask if i was related to Mulla Muhsin Jaffer and Marhum Mulla Asgher (RA) as they all knew them by name and always had words of praise and admiration for their dedicated services.
Murabbi Muhsin Uncle had a broad vision, and embodied Prophetic characteristics and manners. He was blessed with the divine grace to be chosen to bring generations « from darkness into Light ».
And Allah (SWT) decreed his demise on the Wiladat day of Rasul’Allah (saw) and Imam al-Sadiq (a), coinciding also with a Friday this year!
Marhum has left behind a very rich legacy of Tableegh work and noble offspring who continue to serve the community.
Indeed, this tradition of service is a rich and treasured legacy that is ever-flourishing, thus allowing the souls to receive Thawab-e Jaariya and benefit through our good deeds in the community for the sake of Islam.
Ever since my humble involvement in External Tableegh, I had wished to meet him again in London, to describe him all the External Tableegh activities happening now in 66 countries and benefit from his advice, wisdom and Duas.
He was a fatherly figure for many of us. Indeed, he will be greatly missed…
His sad demise leaves a massive vacuum in the community.
We remember Marhum at the holy proximity of Sayyida Fatima al-Ma’suma (a) and pray to Allah (SWT) for his forgiveness and to raise his status and place him amongst the Chosen Ones, with Prophet Muhammad and Aali Muhammad (a); Ameen.
