18th July 2023 / 29th Dhu al-Hijjah 1444
In the Name of Allah (SWT), the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
Salamun Alaykum,
As we come to an end of the Hijri Year 1444 and prepare to embark on the new Hijri year 1445, may Allah’s (SWT) blessings and mercy be upon you and your loved ones.
I would like to take this opportunity to share with you the resounding success of “The Year of the Qur’an” initiative that was launched last year, and express our gratitude for the support and contributions received from various communities globally.
“The Year of the Qur’an” aimed to promote the love for and understanding of the Qur’an among individuals across the globe. We are thrilled to inform you that the initiative exceeded our expectations in terms of participation and engagement. One of the highlights of this endeavor was the launch of various Qur’an Challenges, inviting individuals of all ages to showcase their Qur’anic knowledge and recitation skills through Quizes, Hifdh and Expression. We are delighted to share that we received entries from participants spanning the globe, representing countries such as Uganda, Madagascar, Kuwait, Congo, and Qatar. The diversity of participation extended to age groups as well, with our contestants ranging from the youngest at a remarkable two years old to several respected senior citizens. The enthusiasm and involvement of participants from diverse age groups further underscore the universal appeal of the Qur’an’s teachings.
Another major highlight was The WF publication of the 30th Juz’ of Tafsir Tadabbur Al-Qur’an, the first-ever reflective commentary of the Qur’an. It was very well received, with people eagerly anticipating the upcoming publication of the 29th Juz’, which will be released very soon, InshaAllah.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the numerous communities and volunteers that took the initiative to organize Qur’an programs within their regions, effectively initiating “The Year of the Qur’an” in their respective communities with profound success. Your dedication and commitment played a pivotal role in spreading awareness about the initiative and encouraging individuals to engage with the Qur’an’s teachings. The collective efforts of these communities contributed significantly to the success of “The Year of the Qur’an.”
Given the overwhelming response and the impact witnessed thus far, we are pleased to announce our intention to extend this initiative until December 2023. Our aim is to continue promoting the understanding and reverence for the Holy Qur’an, facilitating meaningful connections with its teachings, and fostering unity among individuals from various backgrounds.
As we enter the new Hijri year 1445, we approach this extended journey with renewed dedication and enthusiasm. We look forward to unveiling a series of more initiatives and programs until the end of 2023.
As we reflect upon the sacrifices of Imam Husayn (a) and the events of Karbala in the coming days of grief and mourning, let us also remember the sacrifices of Imam Husayn (a), his family, companions and the six-month-old son, Hadhrat Ali Asghar (a), who were denied even a drop of water on the plains of Karbala. In the spirit of remembrance and compassion, we kindly request you to consider supporting WF-AID’s flagship Ali Asghar Water Appeal, which provides access to clean and safe water for those in need globally.
