The Madrasah Centre of Excellence (MCE)
India's First-Ever Training Session with the MCE
The Madrasah Centre of Excellence hosts a variety of training sessions tailored specifically for teachers throughout the year across the globe.
This February the MCE team in partnership with the India Federation went to India for the first time and held the teacher training programmes for the Madarash teachers. TSP was conducted by Sayed Ali Naqvi.
The training took place over two weekends in Bhavnagar and Mumbai during 9/10 and 16/17 February respectively.
The teachers were taught how to adopt new methods of teaching with their students and how to encourage children to think outside the box.
There was a strong push for teachers to demonstrate the importance of having a two-way communication between the teachers and students.
The MCE team also discussed the responsibilities teachers have with their students and being able to understand their individual needs.
Another part of the training sessions was to focus on key planning skills. How having items prepared beforehand will help the run of a smooth lesson.
Once the new skills were taught the MCE team decided to put the teachers to the test by having a Micro Teaching session hosted by Shehnaaz Somji (Mumbai) and Shehnaaz Pirmohammed (Bhavnagar). This is where the teacher will teach the other teachers in the new methods described allowing everyone a chance to give feedback and asses themselves.
We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who attended including the India Federation who have helped us achieve this goal esp Brother Ali Shroff. Our next plans with India Federation is to run a 5 year training programme to commence all over India, Insh' Allah. Our next TSP and MT will take place in June 2019.
View the slide show below for pictures of the training sessions.
Here are some of the feedbacks given by the teachers who attended the training sessions:
"The wonderful experience of MCE has led me to believe more in myself and made me realise the responsibility of a teacher in a student's life. After 3 days of attending this workshop, I now know what is expected of me and how to fulfill that expectation while teaching. Really appreciate the efforts taken by the facilitators and organisers and I thank them for introducing this workshop in Mumbai" - Sajjad Karim
"TSP has been one of the finest experiences of my life. The greatest takeaway was to focus on learning about our students before we make them learn. Every student is unique and has different needs. Our lesson plan should accommodate the needs of every student. I have learned a lot and also enjoyed a lot. This program made me think deeper and realise the seriousness of our role as a teacher. A big thank you to Sayed Ali Naqvi, Fatma Naqui, Shehnaz Somji and Sister Sukaina. Appreciate the efforts of Asad Bhai in organising the entire event" - Shabnam Merchant
"Amazing programme, I wish we had this training before becoming a teacher.
So honoured to be a part of it." - Zahra Merchant
"The TSP training module was extremely helpful, created confidence, changed the way of teaching. An overdue step in the right direction." - Mehdi Hemani
